Allantoin is a nitrogenous chemical compound discovered by Louis-Nicolas Vauquelin.
Among plants, it is found in the roots of the comfrey.

As a cosmetic ingredient, active allantoin is recognised for these properties:
-> Active repairer: regenerates tissues and aids in acclimatisation.
-> Moisturising: maintains the skin’s hydrolipidic film.
-> Soothes irritation: anti-inflammatory, soothes irritation and light wounds (razor burns, depilation, sunburn, laser, cracked hands and feet).
-> Emollient and softening.

Niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin of the B group, consisting of nicotinic acid (niacin) and its amide, nicotinamide. Vitamins in general are antioxidant and therefore anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory, but this one is particularly versatile.
Properties and benefits of niacinamide
Anti-inflammatory: Niacinamide has been identified as an effective treatment for various inflammatory skin conditions.
Reduces pores: By improving the elasticity and texture of the skin and limiting the production of sebum (responsible for clogged pores, amongst other things), vitamin B3 reduces the size of enlarged pores.
Anti-redness: By decreasing ignition, the active ingredient has an impact on reducing redness related, in particular, to acne or eczema.
Anti-wrinkle: By increasing the production and quality of collagen in the dermis, it improves the firmness and structure of the skin, which shows fewer signs of ageing.
Anti-oxidant: Protects the skin from oxidative stress caused by toxins and external agents.
Anti-staining: The application of nicotinamide-based care products is effective in lightening pigmentation spots, results of the increase in collagen production induced by the active ingredient.

Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in the haematological and nervous systems and has a complex relationship with the skin. Alterations in cobalamin levels can lead to dermatological manifestations, which may indicate a deficiency of this vitamin.
A retrospective, prospective study of 63 individuals with vitamin B12 deficiency showed that 41% had skin and mucosal changes, with glossitis in 31%, hyperpigmentation in 19%, ankle changes in 9%, angular stomatitis in 8% and vitiligo in 3%. Vitamin B12 plays an important role in the skin and various skin findings are associated with cobalamin deficiency.
